Most “featured in” magazine invitations are transactional and meaningless…this was not…

Last year, as part of the annual report marking my 10-year anniversary as a volunteer speaker and ambassador with Beyond Blue, I was invited by the CEO and Chairwoman of the Board to be featured on the inside cover alongside them.

I was also asked to write a page about my journey and experience over the past decade.

That mattered a lot to me.

Not because it was a magazine feature.
But because it represented ten years of consistent service to a cause that changes lives. And that I’ve cared about most of my adult life.

For over a decade, I’ve had the privilege of speaking openly about mental health, sharing my story, and contributing to conversations that reduce stigma and increase access to support. The work is not glamorous. It is human. It is real. It is necessary. It is emotional.

Being recognised in the report was a milestone of contribution and of the love and care that Beyond Blue shows its volunteers.

I’m grateful to the leadership team for the trust, and proud to stand alongside an organisation that continues to have national impact.

If even one conversation over the last ten years helped someone seek support earlier, speak more openly, or feel less alone, the commitment has been worth it.

Here’s to the next decade.
